The Heart Behind Two Cuts Carpentry
We’re Rick and LeAnn Viel, a husband-and-wife team who traded the fast pace
of California living for the welcoming community and peaceful charm of
Farmington, Missouri. After Rick’s 30-year military career, God led us to a perfect
home for us on a 3-acre patch of land with a small lake, and that’s where Two
Cuts Carpentry began.
Our name and motto say it all:
"Measure, measure, cut, swear, measure, repeat."
It’s our nod to the realities of woodworking—the precision, the passion, and yes,
the occasional slip-up and (often curse word) that comes with the craft.
Rick brings decades of hands-on experience to every piece, built to last for years to
come—cutting boards, shadow boxes, benches, tables, and custom frames. His focus is
on solid construction, and getting the details right.
LeAnn adds her pressed-flower artistry, with help from her mom, sister, and
daughter-in-laws who enjoy pressing and preparing blooms alongside her and are
instrumental in the floral designs and rustic inspiration. Many of these flowers are often
gathered right from the family’s own gardens, gifted by gracious neighbors, or
purchased locally whenever possible. Along the way, wonderful neighbors (who are
more like family) and our sons have even joined the process—helping with
arrangements, driving, and lending a hand with sanding, staining, and even joining us
here at Silver Dollar City. This is definitely a family affair!
Every frame Rick builds provides the foundation for these designs, transforming blooms
into floating botanical keepsakes filled with nature’s beauty.
